Marianne Post

Bio
Marianne Post was born in San Francisco, California and studied art and design at the University of California and Academy of Art University. She has worked for major corporations in San Francisco, San Diego and most recently for the University of California, Davis as principal artist.

Marianne begins with a white surface, blocks in shapes of light and shadow with hard pastels, then adds a wash of turpentine or alcohol in a painterly approach to tone the paper. Following with soft pastels she builds the masses of color as they present themselves to her, and gradually the subject evolves.

Her work has been juried into numerous exhibitions and is held in private collections. Her work can be seen by visiting www.mariannepost.com

Artist Statement
My work comes from my fascination with the visual world, it’s patterns of color and light; my style being realistic impressionism.

As a native Californian I am charmed with the beauty of the local landscape. It is familiar to me yet ever changing. I am drawn to the atmospheric light of large vistas as well as the endless color variations in intimate landscape subjects.

I feel that in this fast paced world one’s sense of vision becomes blind to the incredible loveliness and consequence of ordinary things. My hope is that my paintings fascinate the viewer with the
beauty and generosity of nature.
